I live near a rural area and one thing that is disappearing at a rapid pace is the old barn, once found on every farm place. States like Nebraska and Iowa have lost most of their barns. Maintenance cost on these big barns is high and many farmers don’r raise dairy cattle which was the main reason these barns existed in the first place. As farmers bought each other out the old home place got leveled along with the barns. States like Wisconsin and Michigan still have more barns and also more dairy cattle. The photos included in this post were made in Nebraska, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
